Larned, Kansas

Today was another day along the Santa Fe trail.  We passed through several small town, each of which is introduced on the horizon by a water tower and grain elevator. 

One town had an interesting historical marker, commemorating the person who discovered Pluto.


This highlight of the day was Fort Larned, a wonderful preserved and curated old western fort on the trail.

The ride today was on the shorter side at 47 miles.  We wanted to make sure we had time to see the fort.  We stopped for Mexican food and margaritas on the way into town and paid the price by finishing last mile in the pouring rain.  It was not a big deal though, since it is laundry night.   It is still raining 2 hours later.  It will make an interesting day tomorrow.
