Lamar, Colorado

We started off the day at the Copper Kitchen Cafe.   After the locals got used to seeing 3 MAMILS (middle aged men in lycra), they were very friendly and curious about our trek.   On women recommended an alternative route and visit to Old Fort Bent, an old trading post on the Santa Fe trail.

            Two more colorful Peacocks

It was a great stop and example of the friendly folks that you meet on the road.

The ride today was 62 miles, what we plan as an average day.  We cycled into a moderate headwind across the miles of farms and cattle ranches.

So far, we have cycled 693 miles in 11 days.  We are gearing up to complete our trek across Colorado tomorrow and keeping an eye on what looks like a week of rain next week and we enter Kansas.
